These notoriously slow starts under Bilic are really beginning to add up now
|
Our League record since Boxing day......
Southampton (home) - goal down in the first 10 and all over the shop for a good half hour Bournemouth (away) - straight on to the defence and a goal down within 20 minutes Newcastle (away) - 2 down in 15 minutes against a team desperately short of confidence Man City (home) - penalty conceded after 10mins and Aguero could well of got himself a hat trick within half hour Villa (home) - bottom of the table down and outs and yet still able to run the show early doors at Upton Park Southampton (away) - goal down after 10 minutes thanks to sloppy defensive work and all over the shop before that
Fucks going on ?????

It's a shame because it seems in some games we play well but the slow starts compromise our chances of getting what we deserve.

Yes it's really adding up boaty when we are sixth and have been without a quality, fit, striker for a third of the season. You fucking plum.

Indeed..... Bilic's Achiles Heel...
Why it keeps on happening is very bad... Should have sorted it by now...
His laid back intellectusl style Needs some Fire and Brimstone before they come out of the tunnel...
Sort it Bilic...Right Now...!!!

It was a bit alarming that bottom of the table Villa looked better than us before the red.
Let's see what happens tonight.

I'll take your word for it, because frankly opta are terrible at logging formations correctly, so I can't check it. Maybe it was an attempt to mirror Southampton's three at the back.

we did Alex,
Tompkins, Ginge, Reid standing square with Antonio pushed on too far and Cresswell a good five years ahead of the defensive line.
It was very odd. Dunno if it was a plan to keep the opening ten minutes subdued, but either way it was a fuck up by Bilic imo. It looked unpractised

I didn't see the start of the match, but I'd be shocked if we'd lined up with three at the back.

The team shape against Southampton was all wrong, back three against a front three is asking for the wide areas to be exploited, and the (essentially) wingbacks we were playing were too attack focused to tuck in and support the back three.
Some defenders simply cannot mark a 'space' they need to have a player to mark, when its just a zone they get lost and fall out of position too often.
Antonio was a classic example of that. a player unfamiliar with the role and unable to involve himself in the game without the ball, hence the over loading by southampton of the wings which drew out one of the back three to cover leaving the remaining two constantly in a one-on-one situation. Even when the wing back from the opposite side tucked in they distance to cover was too much and the danger was there that they would only have to beat one man to score.
Bilic realised this after about 20 minutes and made some amends but even then Antonio wasn't able to understand his role and defensively was a hinderance to his center back.

No fucking shit. So we are not consistently good enough to trouble the Top 4. If anyone thought we would be this season, then I worry for their sanity. Steady progress under Bilic is fine by me.

I still think that we're just not good enough to dominate games like most want us too.

Most retarded post on the entire thread
Nobody is knocking the current season, its been excellent in both value for entertainment and actual success
But just because things are going well that should not make us completely immune to any criticism or suggestions there might be room for improvement here and there

We do seem a bit jekyll and hyde sometimes. In general I'm over the moon at the season so far.
I've noticed that when their is nationwide attentionaround one of our games, we perform best. Possibly because everyone is watching? But then the first half at home to Villa for instance, players seem less interested and there isn't the same grit. We've gotten away with it against Villa, but other times we won't.
The good thing is, on a good day we are brilliant, and on the other days we're average. We don't have total disasters so surely we're going in the right direction!
If we're going to improve, and do it properly for the long term, then it just takes some time.
Anyway,.. I'm sure Bilic knows this so I don't doubt he'll be on the case.

How is what I posted sticking up for BFS? Merely showing up the nonsense you posted up about the reason players are tired..
Now what about Payet etc etc?
Lets be honest blaming someone for the players fatigue over TEN months since BFS is manager is fucking WHO Gold, a window licking gold star.

Slow starts have more to do with our starting attackers injured, than Bilic imo.

Let's be honest here, no one knows the players are tired do they? Its pure guess work because we've started a couple of games slower. We're finishing games stronger though so I would suggest that tiredness is not the excuse.
I still think that we're just not good enough to dominate games like most want us too.
